Imagine with me:
You are walking through dark, grayed out woods, fog settling heavily on all sides. You feel grayed out, one-dimensional, colorless. You have a sense of ghosts surrounding you, hands reaching out touching/grasping, invasive plant tendrils wrapping around your ankles, tripping you.
Unknown to you as you struggle along, trying to escape the grasping hands and to stay on the path before you that is so hard to see, there is also much support surrounding you.
There are well ancestors walking at your side, plants/animals shining in the woods watching you but, to you, they don’t exist because you can’t see/sense them. You feel very much alone and on your own, unsupported, flailing, in pain, trying to find your way. In short, it sucks.
As you begin your ancestral healing journey learning deepening into embodiment, boundaries, and ancestral healing, the well ones of your blood lineages light up in full color, forming a protective barrier between you and the ghosts and other troubles. They carefully remove the invasive tendrils wrapped around your ankles, light the way through the fog, and provide clear guidance that allows to walk with confidence on *your* path.
Additionally, with time and at your request, they bring healing to the surrounding ghosts and those who were once ghosts become filled with color and aliveness transforming into guides and protectors as well.
As this happens, you also gain color and, through your connection with your now well ancestors, begin to notice the trees, plants, animals, and elements around you. Their color and aliveness intensifies as you begin to interact with and relate with them.
As you continue to walk through the forest these connections deepen and expand and also, you begin to meet other living-humans walking similar paths of animism, earth-connection and ancestral tending. Together you continue through the woods, your medicines and magics interweaving in wondrous and unexpected ways.
Eventually, you exit the woods and find yourself standing at the edge of a dark, boiling sea representing the times we are in.
The forest is behind you, teaming with life and color, your ancestors and all who walk with you (human and other-than-human) are standing with you, this collective of love, community, belonging, healthy pride, magic, witchery and wizdardry, all weaving together to invoke the healing needed in these times.
And… end imagining.
Where are you on the Journey of the Witchy Healer?
If the journey I just describe resonates with you, where on that journey are you? Are you stumbling through the fog, lost and alone? Do you have the support of protective guides at your side? How about living-human support and community as well?
Sometimes, have a journey mapped out in a simplistic way can help us realize where we are. And also, what is possible.
Over the next few months, I’m going to be writing more frequently – likely once a week, taking you on a journey exploring in more depth the fog of trauma, what is it to be a witchy healer in these times, and how to transform the patterns of shame, self-doubt, confusion, polarization, and sabotage that so often plague those of us who grew up in fundamentalist homes (or cultures).
Thank you for being here with me.
with love,
Larisa
ps. the healing journey I just described begins with the Embodiment, Boundaries, and The Ancestors live-online course. Registration has just opened. We begin February 15!
pps. I’ll be back next week to explore in more depth the fog that initially surrounds the Witchy Healer.
