New Year, New You?

January 5, 2022 · Filed Under: Embodiment, Right Relationship, Self-Care, Tending the Sacred

Are you seeing it too? All the ‘New Year, New You’ programs, offers, workouts, and workshops popping up? …all playing on the belief that we aren’t enough as we are, that we need to step into some new version of ourselves in order to be lovable, worthy, (and perhaps, to make more money)?

What if… that’s not how it works at all? What if there is no program, class, workshop, coaching plan, etc that can turn you into a new version of you for the new year?

What if a ‘New Year, New You’ isn’t even an intention worth setting, a goal worth exploring?

In fact, while I could be wrong, I feel quite certain that ‘New Year, New You’ isn’t only unnecessary, it is likely actually not even desirable.

Hear me out…

New Year, More You

What if, instead of ‘New Year, New You’ the intention was ‘New Year, More You?’ Now that’s an intention, a desire that I can get behind!

What if the you that you most desire isn’t some shiny, different version of you but is instead an even more grounded, authentic, shining YOU. Just you. Simply you as you are… only even more alive and ok with you as you are… even more loving and compassionate towards yourself (and by extension towards others)… even more able to express the you-ness of you.

I’m guessing that that is what many of the programs that shout ‘New Year, New You’ are actually getting at – at least the ones that truly offer a path of self-discovery and healing.

Still… this distinction feels important to me because ‘New Year, New You’ implies that you aren’t ok right now, as you are. That you are somehow deficient, broken, and that only something radically different (new) will suffice.

I disagree.

You, exactly as you are, right now, in all the glory and gore of your specific humanness are already enough.

Want to deepen into the glory and gore that is you? Well, that is a journey worth embarking on in this new year.

with love,
Larisa

ps. the most beautiful and transformative path I know to become more you is the one we walk in the Witchy Healer Wisdom School.

As so much of the gunk that gets in the way of being our most shining mess of a human isn’t even ours (it is unresolved ancestral trauma that just landed in our laps), ancestral healing combined with embodiment and boundary skills is a path that allows for deepening into our true selves a thousand fold. You are warmly invited to join us. <3
