During times of ongoing changes, confusion, overwhelm, or stress it can be difficult to recognize any healing or transformation that is concurrently taking place.
Often, just keeping up (or perhaps not keeping up) with our moment-to-moment experience is all that is possible and yet, as you are here, reading this, I’m willing to bet that deeper layers of healing are happening none-the-less.
However… you may be completely oblivious to the internal (and external) shifts that are occurring in your life.
Why?
Two reasons It can be difficult to track our own healing process:
For one, it can be hard to track our own healing because healing often happens incrementally. It’s unusual to wake up and discover things are dramatically different in some desired way.
In instances of incremental change/healing, it can be helpful to have a mentor or friend who can track changes for us and let us know what they are observing in us.
A second reason healing can be difficult to track is because, when healing truly occurs, it’s as if the pain or issue never existed.
An illustrative story.
I remember one of my first mentors in healing work telling a story about a man who came in to see her with acute shoulder pain.
His pain was so intense and his range of motion so impaired he was unable to remove his jacket without assistance. He left the session seemingly feeling the same as when he arrived (although she observed both physical and energetic shifts throughout the session).
He returned a week later for a follow-up session complaining that nothing had changed and he was still in pain… AS he took off his jacket on his own without any hesitancy or restriction in his range of movement. His shoulder issue had resolved so completely he’d forgotten it had even existed (now, he was experiencing a different issue).
This pattern plays out in other ways as well.
This same pattern of being oblivious to the healing that actually has occurred plays out when we are seeking to heal other-than-physical issues as well (anxiety, overwhelm, reactivity, shame, relationship issues, etc etc).
When healing truly occurs, we tend to forget we were ever in pain and instead latch on to the next thing/layer that is in need of our love and attention.
Thus, it can seem like we aren’t ‘progressing’ on our healing path because, even though the perceived source of our pain is changing, we are still in pain.
Therefore, it can be very difficult, unless we are tracking ourselves carefully, to not become discouraged or disheartened.
So, today, I’m here to share with you some not-so-obvious signs to watch for that will let you know you are on a healing path.
Signs You’re On A Healing Path:
Sign #1: You find yourself deepening into trust of your body, your intuition, and your direct access to Spirit (including your well ancestors).
Sign #2: You can exercise appropriate discernment and set boundaries as needed with greater ease and less guilt or fear.
Sign #3: You experience increased capacity and ability to rest down into that felt sense of belonging and the knowing that you are always held by and a part of, vs superior (or inferior to) all of life including the natural world and the unseen.
Sign #4: You are increasingly able to be your authentic witchy self at whatever level of visibility and voice is right for you.
Sign #5: You discover you have new options, insights, and perspectives in areas of life that were utterly stuck previously… and, you are able to choose differently (to act/behave differently).
Sign #6: You are no longer stuck in the same old story (about yourself, your life, your parents, your friends…). You are open to new stories and new perspectives. You might even find yourself thinking new thoughts.
Sign #7: You find yourself standing more firmly FOR what you believe while also leaving space to be impacted by new information (leaving space for your beliefs to change).
Sign #8: You find yourself less inclined to label, cancel, shame, judge, other, or call-out as dangerous those who see things differently than you. Being ‘right’ and holding/knowing the ‘truth’ is less important than holding respect for others and being open to various viewpoints.
Sign #9: Your capacity to tolerate nuance and complexity is increasing and you are able (with more frequency) to hold a stance of curiosity when presented with points of view that are different from your own.
As you read these signs, you might have noticed that they aren’t tied into the resolution of any specific symptom or issue. Instead these are signs to track within your overall experience of yourself and your life that indicate healing is occurring ongoing.
Healing (as I experience it) is a return to wholeness.
As the various wounded, fragmented, painful parts of ourselves become more integrated (regardless of the perceived/ever changing source of the pain), we step ever more fully into our personal power and sovereignty… while allowing the space and grace for others to experience the same.
with love,
Larisa
